Travel deviations
The insurance policy may include some of the following covers, please check the policy from your employer.
Cancellation of a journey means that a departure on the expatriation or on a business or leisure journey during the expatriation is prevented altogether. The reason for cancellation may be your or your next of kin’s illness, injury or death, damage or loss of your property in the country of residence or a regulation by the authorities relating to the lack of safety of the destination.
You should first claim compensation from the tour or transport operator, and only then from the insurance company. The insurance can cover the part that the tour or transport operator does not cover.
After you have received compensation from the tour or transport operator, please make a claim report.
Interruption of the journey refers to a change in a journey, so that you need to be hospitalized or have to return to the place of departure contrary to the original plan.
If you cannot return home according to your original plan or if you need to interrupt it because something serious has happened to your next of kin or your property back home, please contact us or our assistance partner, whose contact information you will find in your insurance card.
You should first claim compensation for the unused part of your journey from the tour or transport operator, and only then from the insurance company. The insurance can cover additional costs incurred by the new travel arrangements.
After you have received compensation from the tour or transport operator, please make a claim report.
Missed departure means if you arrive late at the point of departure of a flight, or a boat, train or bus journey either on the journey out or coming back home.
The missed departure is covered if weather conditions, a technical failure, traffic accident, criminal act or official regulation prevents the passage of a private or public vehicle or causes it to be late, or if when travelling to the point of departure in a public vehicle another cause prevents the passage or causes the vehicle to be late.
You should first claim compensation from the tour or transport operator for the missed part of the journey. The insurance can cover additional travel costs for the new travel arrangements up to the maximum amount of the original price of the journey.
After you have received compensation from the tour or transport operator, please make a claim report.
Delayed departure means that if the departure of a public transport vehicle for which you have booked a journey is delayed by more than four hours beyond its scheduled time of departure, the insurance covers the amount stated in the policy document in certain cases.
You must be at the check in for the departure according to the original travel plan and provide a document from the transport company stating the cause and duration of the delay.
