Which documents are needed when reporting a claim?
You do not have to send the original receipts to us, but we will ask for them if needed. Please keep the originals to yourself for 6 months after sending the claim.
The documents we may need regarding different types of claims
Travel illness or accident
The attachments needed for travel illness or accident
- receipts of medical expenses, medicines, and prescriptions
- in serious cases medical reports and certificates
- in case of crime, a police report of the incident
Acute dental treatment
Attachments needed for acute dental treatment
- receipts, or invoices of medical expenses
- Dentist's statement of dental care already performed, or treatment proposal, and a cost estimate of necessary treatment
Eyeglasses
Attachments needed in a claim concerning eyeglasses
- in case of glasses broken in a travel accident, the receipt of new eyeglasses
- in the assignment insurance, the prescription for both old and new eyeglasses if eyesight has changed during the assignment
Cancellation of a journey
Attacments needed related to cancellation of a journey
- documents of original journey
- medical certificate indicating the reason for the cancellation
- a certificate of the travel expenses and tickets compensated by the tour operator or airline or a document why compensation has not been paid
- Extract from the population register to clarify the family connection, if the cancellation results from the illness, injury or death of a close relative
Interruption of a journey
Attachments needed if the journey was interrupted
- documents of original journey
- certificate of the reason for the interruption
- receipts of extraordinary travel and accommodation expenses

Missed departure
Attachments needed if you missed your departure
- documents of original journey
- receipts of extraordinary travel and accommodation expenses
- documentation of the cause of the missed departure (f.ex. certificate of delay from the transport arranger)
Luggage
Attachments needed in luggage related claims
- A police report of an offence if the case involves a crime
- If your checked-in luggage is delayed or damaged, attach a certificate issued by the carrier (e.g. airlines use Property Irregularity Report, so called PIR-report)
- purchase receipt, guarantee certificate, repair bill or other such account of the amount of loss
Death due to travel illness or travel accident
Attachments for claims related to death due to travel illness or travel accident
- Death certificate
- Post-mortem report stating the cause of death
- Beneficiaries' personal details, documentation to verify the identity of each beneficiary and the guardians of underage beneficiaries and a report on family relations (similar to estate inventory)
- An extract from the Population Information System for each of the beneficiaries
- If the cause of death was illness, previous epicrises/medical history
