High risk areas

Traveling to high risk areas

Your work duties may sometimes take you to countries where traveling involves an increased risk. In such countries, standard Global Travel or Expatriate insurance may not be sufficient. On this page you can find a list of risk areas and more information about the insurance coverage.

There are two types of risk areas, dangerous areas and war risk areas. In dangerous areas, the country's security situation may have weakened due to, for example, political unrest or an increased risk of terrorism. In war risk area, war is ongoing or the security situation in the area is very weak for other reasons.

When planning a trip to a risk area, it is good to know that Travel or Expatriate insurance do not cover losses caused by war, mutiny, armed conflict or similar events, even if you had not participated in the said activities yourself.

If hostilities or similar events begin at your destination during your trip, the above restriction will take effect 14 days after the country is added to the list of dangerous areas or war risk areas on this page.

Accidents or illnesses that are not caused by war or war-like events are compensated normally also in risk areas according to the insurance terms and conditions. Despite this, we never recommend traveling to a risk area without extending your insurance coverage.

Please contact us before traveling to a risk area. For traveling to dangerous areas, you can take out temporary or continuous additional insurance which covers damage caused by war or war-like events.

Notification of persons traveling to a war risk area

For war risk areas, we grant additional insurance only on case-by-case basis. If your company belongs to the industrial customer segment, please fill out the form below before contacting us about traveling to a war risk area.

Please send the form to us at least five working days before the intended departure date.
