If you are not satisfied with the Insurance Company's decision and would like additional clarification, please contact our Customer Service first.
If Customer Ombud
If, after this, you are still not satisfied with the Insurance Company's decision, you can turn to the If Customer Ombud within one (1) year of receipt of the Insurance Company's decision.
To do this, send an e-mail to asiakasvaltuutettu@if.fi or send a letter to the address If Customer Ombud, P.O. Box 2018, FI-20025 IF, Finland.
The If Customer Ombud's statements are recommendations, which are not binding on the interested parties. The If Customer Ombud does not consider cases which are being, or have been, considered by another appeal body.
Guidance and assistance for clarification
If you cannot solve your case in cooperation with If, you can contact the Finnish Financial Ombudsman Bureau, which provides free-of-charge advice and guidance on insurance compensation matters and the application of insurance terms and conditions.

Seeking appeal to the Insurance Company's decision
You can appeal against the Insurance Company's decision at the Finnish Finnish Financial Ombudsman Bureau, www.fine.fi/en (Porkkalankatu 1, FI-00180 Helsinki, Finland), the Consumer Disputes Board, www.kuluttajariita.fi/en (P.O. Box 306, FI-00531 Helsinki, Finland) or in a general court of justice.
You must appeal against the Insurance Company's decision within three (3) years from the date on which you received written notice of the Insurance Company's decision and of this time limit.
Legal proceedings can be started at the Finnish district court, within whose jurisdiction the interested party or the Insurance Company is domiciled.
The statements of the Boards are recommendations, which are not binding on the interested parties.
Boat or yacht claim
In the event of a boat or yacht claim, you can submit your appeal to the Average Adjuster of Finland within three (3) years of the date on which you received written notice of the Insurance Company's decision and of this time limit.
The Average Adjuster's specification of claims settlement (Act 10/1953) must always be obtained before such a case can be submitted to a court of justice for a decision.
The Average Adjuster's specification of claims settlement can be appealed against as specified in the Finnish Maritime Act.
