The first energy company to ever top the prestigious Global 100 list.
This year the renewable energy company Ørsted has been ranked as the world’s most sustainable company in the Corporate Knights’ 2020 index of the Global 100 most sustainable corporations in the world. Competing against more than 7,300 global companies, Ørsted is the first energy company to ever top the prestigious Global 100 list.
As Chr. Hansen Holding A/S took second place, and Neste Oyj held on to third place, the top three positions in the Global 100 list were taken by Nordic companies. A fourth Nordic company also made the top 10, as Novozymes A/S from Denmark climbed to 6th place, from 58th in 2019.
In a recent press release, Henrik Poulsen, CEO of Ørsted, stated; “We’re immensely proud to rank as the world’s most sustainable company. From our origins as a traditional fossil fuel-based energy company, we’ve transformed into one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world. Every day, we deliver green energy solutions at scale to combat climate change, the defining challenge of our time.”
