With health insurance in If and Vertikal Helse, you are guaranteed a safe and quick treatment when you need it.

If you get sick or have an injury, your costs related to treatment and surgery are covered. You will also receive a personal medical advisor who will follow you both before, during and after your surgery or treatment.

What is covered by the health insurance

The following is covered by your insurance:

Services requiring a referral:
  • Specialist consultation within 7 business days
  • Surgery/Treatment within 10 business days
  • Up to 10 consultations with a psychologist
  • Coverage for rehabilitation costs related to substance abuse and gambling addiction
  • Expenses covered for diagnostics, treatment, and surgery
  • Travel and accommodation
  • Second opinion/reassessment of an already established diagnosis
Treatment not requiring a referral:
  • Up to 10 sessions of Psychological First Aid and crisis therapy
    • Applies in the event of an acute mental health crisis resulting from robbery/assault, a serious accident, or other traumatic experiences such as fire, explosion, traffic accident, natural disaster, or terrorist attack.

Requirements concerning the referral

The referral that can trigger the right to help under the health insurance must satisfy the following requirements:

  • The referral for assessment by a medical specialist must be issued by a doctor or other health professional with the right to make a referral, and the person in question must hold a Norwegian government-approved authorisation.
  • The referral for treatment must be issued by a medical specialist with a Norwegian officially approved authorisation, and who works in the specialist health service. A specialist in general practice is not considered a medical specialist in this context.
  • The referral must document the necessary medical indication to start investigation or treatment.
  • The referral must have been issued within the last 12 months before Vertikal Helse receives the referral from the insured.
  • The referral cannot be issued by the insured himself or his immediate family.

Physical treatment

If and Vertical Health wishes to ensure that our customers receive the best medical treatment at any time. We have learned that many acute musculoskeletal disorders can be treated with short-term physical treatment. In this agreement we cover unlimited consultations (NOK 250,- per hour) without referral.

The insurance covers physical treatment when it is medically necessary to permanently improve functional capacity, illness or injury. It is Vertikal Health together with the treatment provider that approves the type of treatment and the number of treatments to be covered. The treatment must take place within Vertikal Health's network of therapists. The agreed number of hours applies within a 9-month period from the first day of treatment. 3 months must pass from the last treatment covered by the insurance before new treatments for the same condition can be claimed to be covered.

Who is insured

  1. All permanent employees and
  2. Temporary employees with a contract duration of at least 3 months will automatically be enrolled
  3. Early retirement pensioners with agreements established prior to 1 January 2019
  4. Employees on sick leave and partly disabled are covered with the exception of treatment for the diagnosis that has caused the sick leave or disability
